The
soul unfolds like a lotus with a thousand petals
- Kahlil Gibran
Welcome to
Miranda*s Gallery
Here you'll
find a selection of my paintings
When
I paint with watercolor I like to see how the water behaves. Once
the paint is put on paper
one
has to work quickly before it dries, because one can't repaint with
watercolors (the way one
can
with oil and acryl) without blending the colors into a muddy mess.
In this way the water lives
a
life of its own and one never knows what the picture will look like
until it is finished.
I
try to cooperate with water under its terms. That's why I
like to paint relatively abstract, and the
theme
in my pictures is usually a combination of sky and sea, both watery elements.
Caligraphy
needs a control one doesn't have with water. It takes accuracy and a
steady hand.
In
my early works I wrote directly on the painting, but since the
writing then appeared quite dominant
I
have later chosen to write the text on a sheet of paper and then
transfer it a bit minimalized to the painting. This gives an
impression of "floating" and lightness not felt in the
earlier pictures.
Now
over to the paintings!
